Trekking
Arunachal Pradesh
The 4 major trekking destinations are Pasighat-Jengging-Yinkiang,Bhalukpong-Bomdila-Tawang, Roing-Mayodia-Anono and Tezu-Hauliang. The 1st trek starts from SiangĀ plains and leads through the thick forest area. The 2nd route passes trough the Tipi orchidarium to Bomdila. On the third trekking route the main trekking spots are Mehao Lake Sanctuary and boating in Salley Lake.
Meghalaya
Smit: a 2 day trek from State Library to Laitkor. Crinoline Falls is the major attraction of this route; Mawlyngot: This trekking route comprises of a village. Singsong gorge along the river Um song is the striking feature of this route. Pynursla: This route starts after crossing Um Song river and ends in the town of Pynursla. Weiloi to Ponkung/Pongkung to Umhgi: Weiloi is a beautiful village. En route Weiloi to Umhgi you will see two natural springs.
Nagaland
The main trekking routes here are Dzukou Valley, Mokokchung, Pungro, Mount Tiyi and Satoi range.
White Water Rafting
Teesta and Rangit River
The icy cold waters of the Teesta river are the finest stretches for rafting.The Teesta and Rangit rivers offer long stretches which are ideal for safe rafting. Teesta has been graded on the International scale at Grade 4. Rangit, a tributary of the Teesta, has more roaring waters and offers a challenge to more experienced and expert river rafters. Amateur as well as experienced rafters can seek the assistance of the Department of Tourism and travel agents for arranging river rafting trips to these rivers at Sikkim.
Brahmaputra river
Brahmaputra in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam offer a great scope of rafting. Brahmaputra is known as Siang at Arunachal Pradesh. The over roaring white waters of mighty Brahmaputra cascading down the heights of immense beauty across Tibet into the north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh is an exciting experience for the rafters. Though inaccessible, the region is the ultimate destination a rafter can look for.
