North East India

The North East India comprises of the seven sister states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura. They form part of the East Himalayan region  The area is characterized by rich bio-diversity, heavy precipitation and high seismicity. It is endowed with forest wealth. the region has high concentration of tribal population

Temples
Sacred Temples and religious shrines are one of the most popular tourist places in North East India; they are rich sources of religious feelings and concepts. These temples represent various regional styles of architecture. The temples belong to different times in history. Temples in this region represent various sects of Hinduism and Buddhism. Kamakhya temple, Navgrah temple, Sun temple Konark, Dakshineshwar mandir, Jagannath temple are the prominent here.

Cultural and Heritage
It is a region of mystic splendors and rich cultural heritage. The glorious past of Northeast India can be visualized from the immense archaeological evidences scattered in the entire length and breadth of this part of India. The cultural places are Guwahati- several important archaeological sites of mythological and historic significance like temples of Umananda, Kamakhya, Asvakranta; Majuli: This largest fresh water river island in the world is famous for rich Vaishnavite cultural heritage; Arunachal Pradesh: Arunachal Pradesh is known for several of the Buddhist monasteries; Gangtok and its adjoining regions: There are several monasteries in Sikkim of historical and archaeological importance.

Wildlife
Nature has ungrudgingly blessed North East India with an abundance of scenic grandeur. A wealth of rarest and near-extinct species of wildlife are found in this region. Kaziranga National Park, Manas National Park, Balpakram National Park, Dibru-Saikhowa National Park, Nameri national park are a must visit. Jeep safari, Jungle safari and Elephant rides are a fun part in the wildlife tourism.

Cities
The lush green valleys, rugged mountains and rich bio diversity, though within each there are multi-ethnic tribal communities with their own culture and languages- all this you can find in North East Indian cities. Each of the cities of North East India has a story to tell. They are the true depiction of the culture of the region and the lifestyle of the people.
