Gulmarg

A Paradise of Meadows, Flowers and Snow-Clad Mountains

Gulmarg

Enchanting! Priceless peace! And silence. These rare experiences can truly be felt only in Gulmarg. No other travel destination offers such a rich blend of history, natural beauty and culture. Exploring Gulmarg does not require extensive planning. Whether for a leisure vacation, a honeymoon trip, or simply the desire to explore a pristine hill station, Gulmarg is the perfect escapade.

Gracefully adapting to modern times, Gulmarg has transformed from the royal retreat of kings into one of the most visited honeymoon, leisure and hill destinations in India. Known as the ‘Meadow of Flowers’, this Kashmir travel hotspot mesmerizes thousands of visitors every year.

Snow-clad peaks, towering Himalayan mountains and vibrant meadows filled with rare flowers make Gulmarg a peaceful respite from the hectic pace of city life. Thus, travelling to Gulmarg has firmly established it as a major tourist destination in India.

Gulmarg carries a fascinating historical legacy dating back to the time of Emperor Jahangir and King Yusuf Shah Chak. Interestingly, its former name, ‘Gaurimarg’—signifying the abode of the wife of Lord Shiva—was changed to ‘Gulmarg’, meaning ‘Valley of Flowers.’ Majestic Himalayan peaks, unspoiled snow-covered landscapes and endless stretches of lush meadows contribute to Gulmarg’s enchanting charm. Small hamlets, lakes and camping spots scattered across the region add a distinct appeal to its natural beauty.
